Mitchell Hull Obituary

Mitchell Alan Hull, 61, a long-time resident of Tulsa, departed his earthly life Sunday afternoon, November 18, at his home in east Tulsa. Mr. Hull was not in ill health and death was unexpected.
The only child of Melvin Henry and Mary Louise(Griffin) Hull, he was born September 8, 1957 in Pittsburg, Kans. Hull spent his childhood in the community attending USD 250 schools graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1975. While in high school, he was very active with the forensic speech and debate club, and a saxophonist with the Marching Dragons band.
Following graduation, and while working for KOAM-TV, Hull attended Pittsburg State University studying business administration and political science. A career advancement opportunity brought Hull to KOTV-TV6 in Tulsa where he became a broadcast engineer.
During the late 1970s, Hull developed a profound in interest in the fire and emergency medical services thanks to a group of like-minded enthusiasts' knowns as the Tulsa Fire Buffs. Eventually, after receiving his Associates in Applied Fire Protection Technology from Tulsa Junior College, he became a certified firefighter and paramedic. Hull spent time as a volunteer firefighter with Rolling Hills Fire District and worked as a paramedic with many ambulance services in the Tulsa metropolitan area and throughout central Oklahoma.
Additionally, Hull was an avid amateur radio operator and member of the U.S.S. Batfish/U.S.S. Oklahoma radio club in Muskogee. He was club president at the time of his death.
Hull met his partner of many years Nancy Baden in Tulsa in the late 1980s and together had three (3) children, Elizabeth, David, and Matthew, all of whom survive. His parents and an aunt that resided in Kansas City, Mo. preceded him in death. Additionally, Hull was a long-time member of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians®, and the Amateur Radio Relay League®.
Services for Mitchell A. Hull will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 24, at Moore Funeral Home, 1908 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa. Graveside services and internment will follow at approximately 1:30 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kans.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the U.S.S. Batfish/U.S.S. Oklahoma Amateur Radio Club, c/o Muskogee War Museum, 3500 Batfish Road, Muskogee, Okla. 74403.
