Died: January 17, 2025 in Ottawa, IL
Evelyn Mae Danielson, 95, of rural Seneca, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Pleasant View Retirement Home in Ottawa.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 23 at Stavanger Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow with Reverend David Ufkes officiating. Burial will be in Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Evelyn was born July 14, 1929, in Gardner, IL to John and Gertrude (Gunderson) Hill. She went to Mazon High School where she graduated in 1947 as Valedictorian. She met Roger on a blind date in February 1948. They were married on October 2, 1948 in Gardner, IL.
She was an active member of Stavanger Lutheran Church. As a member, she was involved with Ladies Aide, Homebuilders, and the Scandinavian Christmas parties. Known for her homemade pies, yeast rolls, kringla, and lefse, Evelyn was an incredible baker and cook. She was an amazing seamstress, knitter, and quilter. During planting and harvesting season, she and her daughters took care of chores on the farm, livestock, and bringing lunches to the workers in the fields. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed baking them her big grandma cookies and taking her granddaughters shopping. She always knew the latest fashion.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 76 years, Roger; her children, Patsy Kaufmann, Rob (Gloria) Danielson, Dan (Terri) Danielson, and Jill (Dave) Steep; twelve grandchildren, Tricia (Butch) Melvin, Angela Kaufmann, Stefanie (Donny) Phillis, Gina Van Cleave, Mackenzie (Kellen) Kubasak, Ryan (Megan) Danielson, Haley Danielson, Sarah (Eric) Less, Alan (Shannon) Barus, David Barus, Katie (Adam) Kilker, and Michael (Erin) Steep; and 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved four sisters and six brothers.
