Marcia L. Lower, age 67, of Mount Gilead, passed away Tuesday morning, January 19, 2016, at Galion Pointe following an extended illness.
On April 30, 1948, Marcia was born in Marion, OH, the daughter of LeRoy L. Lower and the late Betty Jean (Keller) Lower. She graduated from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1966.
Marcia took great pride and loved her lifelong job as an X-Ray Technician. She spent most of her time working at the Morrow County Hospital but also helped out many other places including: North Central Correctional Facility, Marion General Hospital, Galion Community Hospital, Shelby Hospital, Smith Clinic, Marion Women's Health Center, and the Marion Area Health Center. She was very encouraging towards others going into her field and would help them in any way she could.
Marcia's other true love was animals, especially dogs. She had two mutts, Taffy and Muppet, and after they passed away she became very involved in Ohio Pug Rescue. Over the years she also had a potbelly pig and a goat.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, having quite an assortment of cast iron banks, perfume bottles and tins. Fishing was a favorite hobby of Marcia's ever since she was a child. She loved to read, write, and play cards. She also enjoyed going to Amish County and visiting the different shops.
Marcia will always be remembered for her loving, giving spirit.
She is survived by her dad, LeRoy L. Lower of Marion; two brothers: Randy (Connie Kraus) Lower of Fairfield, OH, Ricky (Jan) Lower of Mount Gilead; a niece, Hannah (Eli) Hartman of Green Camp; two nephews: Jesse Lower of Lewis Center, Shawn Lower of Pittsburgh, PA; numerous cousins; and great nephew Matthew Hartman.
The Lower family will greet friends from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with her brother, Ricky Lower, officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date in Caledonia Cemetery.

With special thoughts of the Lower family. I worked with Marcia and she was a good friend. We had a lot of laughs together as well as some sad times. She rescued one of my dogs who we just recently lost as well. She will be sadly missed by so many. God bless Marcia.

It was a pleasure to care for Marcia! She always thought of others before herself. I always enjoyed our outings together especially going to Upper to see the Christmas lights. My condolences to her family. Jennifer Stewart. Activities G. P.
