Bill was born June 12, 1940, the son of Frank and Mary (Hlavaty) Adamcik. He grew up in West, Texas, embodying the values of hard work and dedication instilled in him by his loving parents. Bill and his younger brother Eugene "Gene" helped their Dad in the family's auto repair garage and general store. He attended North Texas University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree. On February 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Norma Traywick, who preceded him in death on July 9, 2022. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, particularly celebrating the achievements of their daughters, Karen and Debbie, who they raised mainly in Irving. Bill loved coaching his daughters in soccer and softball for several years while teaching them many life-long lessons including sportsmanship, team effort, and work ethic. Their family were fans of the Dallas Cowboys, holding season tickets for several years. They enjoyed attending many family gatherings that of course included Czech dances, and Bill did love to dance! He was an active member of Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church including the Knights of Columbus. His strong Christian faith guided him throughout his life. As dynamic business owners, Bill and Norma operated three laundromats in Irving for 30 years and co-owned the Heart of Texas Speedway in Waco for 25 years. This was in addition to his "day job" as an industrial inspector with the Fire Prevention Bureau for 44 years. Bill and Norma's entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by their love for travel, where they explored destinations from Hawaii and Alaska to Europe and the Caribbean, with family and friends. Bill's legacy extends to his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he took immense joy in celebrating every milestone, from births to graduations to weddings.
Bill is also preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Gates and husband Larry of Midland and Debbie Muir and husband David of Katy; grandchildren, Kathryn and Eric Dyke, Elizabeth and Michael Sollee, Lauren and Regan Moore, Heather and Daniel Coolidge, Robert and Meghan Gates, and Amanda and Caleb Polachek; 15 great-grandchildren - plus another one due in October!; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandson and the husbands of his granddaughters.
The family has so many to thank. This includes Ron Snapka and Johnny Matus for their wonderful help with the funeral arrangements and of course their loyal friendship to Bill.
