DAVID TOMLIN Obituary

David, of Midland, Texas gained his wings and went home to our heavenly Father June 2, 2021. Dave was born to Ross and Dorothy Tomlin October 5, 1946 in Midland, Texas where he attended Midland High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966. He served a tour in Vietnam and was Honorably Discharged. Upon his return to Midland, he attended Odessa College. While still in the reserves, he met Jan Adams. They married in 1971 and were blessed with three children, David Jr, Bryan, and Wendy. With his passion for business entrepreneurship, he started A-1 Sign Engravers in 1973 on the kitchen table of their home. He quickly expanded the sign business and moved to a bigger location on Pecos St. With his thriving business he moved to their current location of 1200 Garden City Hwy, which now includes A-1 Embroidery and A-1 Distributors. In the early 80's, Dave met Judith Wurster and married in June 1990. Dave was then blessed again with Judith's, children Yvonna, John, Bryan and Kathrine. Dave, enjoyed his time at his ranch in the San Angelo area. Other past times included both fresh water fishing and salt water fishing and having a good time with his friends, family and employees having cookouts and fish fry's. Dave and Judith especially enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas. He is survived by siblings: Don Tomlin and wife Betty, Dwain Tomlin and wife Karen and Dalynn Blocker and husband Jim. Children: David Tomlin Jr and Amy Stephens of Midland, Wendy Tomlin of New Braunfels, Yvonna and Tommy Sheppard of Midland. John and Tammy Wurster of San Angelo, Bryan and Brandy Wurster of Midland, , Kathrine Wurster and Kelli Wilks of Midland and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dave is preceded in death by his parents Ross and Dorothy, wife Judith, his son Bryan Tomlin and grandchild Payzlee. Viewing will be held Tuesday June, 8th at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Memorial Service will be Wednesday June, 9th at St. Ann's Catholic Church at 2pm following with a short reception at the church. Family wishes to give a special thanks to Pete Mendoza for his kind caring of Dave over the past year, Kindred Hospice of Midland and Martha Ramirez and her team for the around o'clock care in his final days. Funeral service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
