Richard Luna Obituary

Richard A. Luna, 72, of Boulder, CO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4 surrounded by his family and dear friends at Boulder Community Foothills Hospital after battling a short illness. Richard was born and raised in Texas to Nestora and Ramiro Luna. After attending schools in Midland, Texas, and graduating from MHS, he went to study at Angelo State University. During his senior year spring break trip to Boulder, Colorado, Richard stayed and never resided in Texas again. Richard retired from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2003, loved watching Colorado Buffalo football, spent his life fishing the miracle mile among other places, hunting, shooting, hiking, traveling, and walking his dogs faithfully. He was a naturalist and great lover of the outdoors. He is survived by his father, Ramiro Luna; brother Alex Luna and wife Lisa; sister Norma Duran and husband Torivio; sister-in-law Eva Luna, all from Midland, Texas; and sister Connie Luna and John Daly from Coppell, Texas. His nephews and nieces, Joseph Duran; Kimberlea Duran and husband John Claire; Sarah Duran; Diana and husband Shawn Giacobbe; Bonnie and husband Johnny Baeza; Maddy Luna; Ryan Luna; Elijah Luna; Jason Rodriguez and wife Jennifer; Amanda Rodriguez and husband Ivan Hernandez; Andrew Rodriguez and wife Taylor; Lorena Covington and husband Robert; Francisca Linares and husband Josue; Alexander Luna II; and several great nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins who love him dearly. He also leaves behind his PAW-Children Valerie, Maggie, Bella, Pebbles, and Boy. He is predeceased by his mother Nestora Luna, and brother Ramiro Luna, Jr. He was loved and will be greatly missed by the many great friends he made in the 52 years living in Boulder, CO. We can find solace in knowing he is reunited with his mother and brother. What a joyous reunion it must have been for them. A visitation with family and Rosary will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, Texas. Funeral and burial services will begin at St. Ann's Catholic Church on September 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. Serving Pallbearers will be Jason Rodriguez, Andrew Rodriguez, Alexander Luna II, and Ryan Luna. A reception for family and friends will follow all services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in October in Boulder, CO. Flowers are welcome and can be sent to 1001 W. Cuthbert, Midland, Texas, 79701. Other donations can be made in Richard's honor to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
