I am ever grateful for my scholarship to study performing arts that I was granted by Mr. Thorson. I was provided with a great deal of roles and onstage experience. He taught me that 95 percent of actors are unemployed. He encouraged me to learn to wait tables so I could survive the tough times ahead. I used my skills on the 18th Century stage as a museum historical actor and storyteller, I waited tables in a dinner theatre nearly 10 years and I have used my dance background to become a Zumba Instructor as well. I would say that the best training I could have ever received did not come from working as a performer, but from being a student of Stephen B. Thorson’s. For Lisa, your father drove me several times to and from the train station and airport as I am from Virginia. He was so proud of your music. He would play it in the car and talk about you the whole time. You are greatly talented. For Billie Teal Thorson, I thought of you today. I am thinking about learning Shirley Valentine. You always inspired me. I think it will bring honor to you both for all the kindness that you both had shown me in my college years.

Dear Billie,
Quite by accident, today, I noticed Steve's obituary in the April 7th Telegram. I am sorry to learn of his passing. Just last week, I was thinking about him and the shows we did together those years ago. I am grateful for the opportunities that he and you gave me to be onstage. With kind regards, A. J.
