Thomas Cobb Obituary

Thomas Sidney Cobb, 66, of Ridgecrest, California, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, in Topeka, Kansas. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 1, 2004 at Trinity Memorial Park.

Mr. Cobb was born on May 20, 1938, and married Judi Wrachford in 1976, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He had lived in Big Spring until the third grade and moved back to Big Spirng in the 1970's. Mr. Cobb served in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was a Chief Petty Officer and had served during the end of the Korean War and three tours during Vietnam. Thomas served on several aircraft carriers including the USS Kitty Hawk, the USS Midway, the USS Wasp, and the USS Bon Homme Richard. He helped in the recovery of Gemini Space Capsules.

Thomas enjoyed flying and motorcycles. He was known as the family "Ham", cutting up and always being available for pictures.

Survivors include his wife, Judi Wrachford Cobb, three sons, Robert Cobb of Mesa, Arizona, Mike Cobb and his wife, Loretta of Simi Valley, California, and Kenneth Cobb and his wife Lisa of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Norma Green of Midland; four grandchildren, Heather and Thomas Cobb of Simi Valley, California, Becky and Mike Cobb of Santa Cruz, California; five nieces and nephews, Wade Cobb, Angela Phernetton, and Susan Watkins all of Big Spring; Monica Whitlock, and James Green both of Midland.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-5 Midland, Texas 79701.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com.
