North Muskegon
Orrie David Carlson, age 1.5 years, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Orrie was born January 9, 2023 in Muskegon, MI. He is survived by his loving parents, David and Hayden (Thompson) Carlson; his big brother, Boone; paternal grandparents, David and Lisa Carlson; maternal grandparents, Frank and Betsy Thompson; paternal great-grandmother, Jean Carlson; maternal great-grandparents, Jack and Julie Timmer; aunts and uncles, Jennie (Jared) Johnson, Morgan (Alex) Anderegg; and cousin, Jubilee Johnson. Orrie was preceded in death by paternal great-grandfather, David Carlson; paternal great-grandparents, James O. and Lorraine Wolffis, and maternal great-grandparents, Richard and Betty Thompson. Public Visitation for Orrie will be held 5-7 PM Thursday, August 1, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Children's Heart Foundation, 5 Revere Drive, One Northbrook Place, Suite 200, Northbrook, IL 60062-1500. My deepest condolences to Hayden, David and Boone. Orrie was my hero! Such an indelible spirit in such a small package! If ever there was such a thing as a "bouncing baby boy", Orrie fit the description. He bounced back from so many issues and adversities we all lost count...and always with a smiling, happy face. I'll miss seeing those pictures that always captured his essence and courage. What an incredible little man! The world has lost one of its most angelic members. I hope we can all find peace with Orrie's passing, but keep the memories of his spirit and resilience close to our heart. It'll make us all stronger.

I was so blessed to have Orrie as my great-nephew. I will always remember his big smile and how happy he was even though he was going through so much physically. He has touched my life in a way that I never could have imagined, and I will cherish my memories of Orrie forever. David and Hayden are the strongest parents I have ever seen, and Boone was the best big brother. So thankful you are all in my family, and I love you so much!
