Annette Postma

Annette Postma, age 79, of Lynden, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. She was born on December 27, 1945, in Marum, Groningen, The Netherlands to Jakob and Sophie VanderMolen Heerema. Annette, her parents and four siblings immigrated to DeMotte, Indiana when she was 11 years old. She attended DeMotte Christian School, DeMotte High School, and Calvin College. Annette married Ed Postma on December 29, 1965. They were blessed with five children: Renee, Stacey, Kent, Eric, and Darin. Annette taught fourth grade at Hudsonville Christian School and kindergarten at New Holland Christian School. She was employed by Christian Health Care Center for 28 years, as a restorative aide. Annette was preceded in death by her father and mother and her sister-in-law Bea Heerema. Annette is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ed; by her children Renee (Tom) Bajema of Edison WA, Stacey (Tony) Meyer of Torrelodones, Spain, Kent (Sonya) Postma of Friendswood TX, Eric Postma of Lynden WA, and Darin (Shirley) Postma of Mercer Island WA; her siblings Frank Heerema, John (Anna Mae) Heerema, Sylvia (Carroll) Tysen, Jan (Jim) DeVries; and her sister-in-law Terri DeVries, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Memorial donations in Annette's name may be sent to the Christian Health Care Center, 855 Aaron Dr., Lynden WA 98264. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at Sonlight Church, 8800 Bender Road, Lynden, WA. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
