Michael McKinney "Mike" Dodd

Michael 'Mike' McKinney Dodd passed away on June 14, 2025. A lifelong resident of Blaine, Mike was born to Harold 'Bud' and Aleta (McKinney) Dodd on September 27, 1947. He graduated from Blaine schools with the class of 1965 where he made lifelong friends and participated in football, basketball, baseball and DeMolay International. Mike attended the University of Puget Sound where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity before returning to Blaine. There, he joined his family in the operation and ownership of Blaine Marina, Inc., until it closed in 2015. Mike married Diane Tyree on February 18, 1973. Mike was very active in the Blaine community during his lifetime. He served on the Blaine School Board of Directors from 1977 – 2017, and was involved in the Blaine Booster Club, Drayton Harbor Maritime and the Blaine Hall of Fame Committee. Mike played fastpitch and spent years coaching youth sports and high school fastpitch. Mike loved building model boats and felt that he had completed a model of most of the Blaine Harbor commercial fishing fleet. He also completed many custom boat orders for people outside of Blaine. Mike loved his community, and he loved his family. Mike is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Julie and Grandson Ryder, all of Blaine; brother Steve (Chris) of Lynden; Brother-in-Law Ron (Gloria) Tyree of Eugene, OR; aunt Donna (Dodd) Stanford of Blaine, as well as nieces, nephews and numerous cousins Arrangements are under the direction of Jerns-McKinney Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 21, 1:00pm at Blaine United Church of Christ, 885 4th Street, Blaine, Wa.
