Jackson
Dr. Amy Louise Gerber, VMD, of Jackson, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016. Amy worked for the State of New Jersey as Senior Veterinarian at Freehold Raceway for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Jackson Township Chapter of the Lyme Disease Association. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she lived in Lakewood before moving to Jackson 1987.
She is survived by step sons Matthew and Christopher Manger, brother Charles Gerber, sister in law Denise Gerber, nephews Jori and Davin Gerber, long time companion Kevin Manger, and cousins: Felice Katz, Dr. Jonathan Dissin and Peter Dissin, and dear friend Nancy Modiano.
A memorial gathering will be held to celebrate Amy's life on Thursday, February 25, from 6:00 to 9:00pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations to the John Drulle, MD, Memorial Lyme Fund, 702 Brewers Bridge Road, Suite 2, Jackson, NJ 08527-2343, in her name would be appreciated. Amy,
You were always a fun person to be around when I worked for the NJRC. I always remember your funny jokes when you were working @ the Meadowlands.
A true "Vet" and great person. May you rest in peace and both you and your contributions to the industry and life will never be forgotten!

We appreciated Amy as one-of-a-kind, outspoken and brave. She was always willing to try new treatments for Lyme disease. She worked hard for patients with Lyme disease, first with the LDANJ and then the John Drulle, MD Memorial Lyme Fund. In the early days of Lyme activism, she even bought her own copier so she could get the word out. And who can forget her cow costume at the Great Imitator fundraiser? We enjoyed her sense of humor and appreciated her devotion to Matty and Chris.

She will be remembered as a conpassionate women eapecialt to the race horses that she watched over at the NJ race tracks.
