Donald Ajlony Obituary
Bayville - Donald Ajlony, 98, of Bayville entered Life Eternal on July 21st. Born in Detroit, he spent his childhood in Palestine returning to Detroit as a young man.
He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1941, serving as a flight engineer on B24 aircraft in the Pacific in the Second Marine Aircraft Wing. After the war, he was stationed in Yuma, AZ where he married Emma Spiess and then transferred to Cherry Point, NC. Upon discharge in 1947, the family settled in Jersey City, NJ.
Donald completed Art School and became a commercial artist in NYC. Then, moving to Bergen Co. he was employed by Curtis Wright Aircraft. In 1958, the family moved to Beachwood, and he worked at Toms River Chemical as a chemist's assistant. He retired and moved to Bayville in 1978.
His many interests included photography, art, music, gardening and bird watching.
Donald is predeceased by his brother Fred; survived by his loving family: devoted husband to Emma for 72 years, beloved father of Donna Fusiak and husband Paul, Karen Rinderer and husband Jim, Linda Hofmann and fiancé Bill Graney. He was the affectionate Pop Pop to grandchildren Meredith Hunt and husband Sean, Andrew Fusiak, Mark Fusiak, Tim Fusiak and wife Kaitlin, Dale Hofmann, Holly Szuwalski and husband Mark, Scott Hofmann and fiancé Heather Fisher and Alexa Duffy and husband Paul; and loving Great Grand Pop to Roy, D.J., Shawnna, Dylan, Emma, Joseph and Morgan. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Clement in Australia and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 130 Cable Ave, Beachwood, NJ 08722 at 10:30am. A repast will be held at the church hall from 12pm - 1:30pm before leaving at 1:45pm for Committal Prayers at the B.G.W.C.D. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, where Donald was a faithful member since 1962 or to the D.A.V. at www.dav.org as he was a supporter of their efforts to help disabled veterans.
