AGE: 89 • Edgewater
Emma H. Gordon, 89 of Edgewater, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Born in Woodbridge, and formerly of Somerset, NJ and Gwynn Oak MD.
She retired 27 years go after over 30 with the Federal Government Environmental Protection Agency in Edison.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Elijah Gordon who died in May of 1977.
Emma leaves behind, her beloved children; Donna Williams, with whom she resided, Eli Gordon and his wife Barbara, of Perth Amboy, Craig Gordon and his wife Cynthia of New Orleans, LA., and Toni Gordon Brown and her husband Leonard of Gwynn Oak, MD, 8 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, January15, 2016 from 10 am to 12 noon, followed by services at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church, 103 Sewaren Ave., Sewaren, NJ 07077. Interment will be held privately. Arrangements are under the direction of the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave. Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. To send condolences, visit flynnfuneral.com.

Our sincere condolences to you and your family. I met Ms. Emma on more than one occasion and she was a hoot but mostly, Toni, I knew her through the many stories you would tell about her. I can envision that she was the rock of your family. May the many special memories of your Mom live with you all forever.

To Toni and the entire Gordon Family: Freddie and I send our deepest condolences. May God sustain and strengthen you during this difficult time. I will always remember the time that Mrs. Emma put an apron around my waist as I helped Toni wash dishes. Ms. Emma said " child put this apron on,you don't want your waist to get wet. If it does, your husband will be a drunk!" I laughed so hard, but made sure that I never let my waist get wet while washing dishes! She always had a beautiful smile and encouraging words.
