DR. FAYEZ BARSOUM IBRAHIM
AGE: 82 NORTH BRUNSWICK
Dr. Fayez Barsoum Ibrahim, 82, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at his home in North Brunswick. We take this time to honor our father, husband, uncle, and grandfather, Dr. Fayez Barsoum Ibrahim. "Dr. Fayez" as he was often called, was a native of Egypt who immigrated to the United States to further his academic studies in chemistry. He studied in Houston Texas and received his Masters degree at the University of Houston. Later he moved to NJ with his wife and three children to work in analytical chemistry. He published many papers and articles in his field. Dr. Ibrahim was a member of the American Chemical Society, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, The New York Academy of Science, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He later received his PhD in analytical Chemistry, earning him the title of Dr. Fayez by those who loved him. One of Fayez Ibrahim's greatest loves was Coptic Orthodox church. He spent many hours of service for the church. Realizing the importance of establishing a Coptic community in our local area, he negotiated with Father Newman of Corpus Christi to use their place of worship to hold services while the Coptic Church was under construction. He was one of the founding fathers of St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox church in East Brunswick, helping to find and secure the property as well as being instrumental in erecting the building.
Fayez also loved his family very much. His wife, Roswitha; his sons Michael, Robert and his wife Doniki, and his daughter. Nanette O'Neal and her husband Michael O'Neal survive him. They hold fond memories of him near to their heart. He also has seven grandchildren who love and adore him.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church in East Brunswick. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7 PM to 9PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. We rest with the assurance of God's love for His very faithful and humble servant, Fayez. May he be forever encircled in the arms of our loving Savior, Christ the Lord, Amen.
