Ralph, I remember high school, making potato chips for Monday night football, but most of all you were always there for my family. Our wedding, our childrens affairs. We will never forget you, and the memories we hold so close. We Love You! Your cousin,

Cindy Andreacchio

To you we always remember,
The memories you hold so well,
That will never leave us,
Beloved Ralph.

I remember when we were younger
You dressed up,
As Santa,
And gave us presents.

We will never forget,
Your love,
And kindness,
That will always,
Remain with us,
For now,
Forever,
We love you very much.

Ralphie and I were like shadows of each other for many years. You couldn’t separate the two of us it seemed. We spent more hours and days together than I could ever count. We got into small amounts of trouble from time to time, mostly for “borrowing” the needed tools in order to fix something we were working on. (Thinking back, most of the things worked fine before we needed to “fix” them, but we fixed them none the less and had fun doing it). There were no broken bones, no eyes shot out (although we came close) and no real property damage (that anyone can trace to us).

Ralphie and I put many miles on our “bikes” together. Unlike what most of you are thinking right now, back then, our bikes had no motors. We peddled everywhere. I have no idea how many miles it was between spots in Tuckerton, we’d leave shortly after breakfast and not return until dinner. We explored places, find dirt paths that seemed to lead to nowhere and enjoyed every moment of it. Maybe that was the spark that gave Ralph the love for the bikes with motors, first the dirt bikes, then the Harley. Whatever it was, no one can argue, he loved to ride. I can remember him doing things on his Suzuki 80 that grown men on 125’s and 250’s couldn’t pull off. The only thing I could think of that he loved more than riding was laughter. He always had a smile. It was infectious at times, making all those around him smile too.

I’ll remember my childhood with Ralphie forever. Some of my favorite memories will be the bungalow in Tuckerton; fishing, crabbing and scratching those damn green fly bites all summer long. Every trip down there usually started with the declaration of “We’re off – like a herd of mad turtles.” I still use that line to this day with my kids. Playing the drums and setting up the trains in the basement of his house was how most winter days were spent. Digging tunnels and building snow forts from the freshly plowed parking lot was the call of the day after blizzards. When that Dodge with the snow plow hitch was first bought, we were ecstatic. We could only dream of how high those plowed drifts could get now that we were in control of building them. The possibilities were endless it seemed.

At the bar, dumping countless (red) quarters in Ms. Pacman, the pool table and the jukebox was a typical afternoon. (The red quarters came back to us free – or so we were told). If I remember, the shuffleboard was only a dime back then, but now it’s free. Ralphie could usually beat most of the regulars at pool and refused to ever use the bridge on the long shots. I’m pretty sure the regulars were not throwing the game to him either; he was just good at an early age. We made pizzas together for the regulars at the bar on many nights – Friday and Saturday only, we had school the rest of the week. I know, but can’t reveal the secret ingredients that made the sauce so good. When I look at the pizza oven now, it looks a lot smaller than I remember. They say it’s the same one, but I know it was bigger back then; someone must have changed it out.

I can fill many more pages with stories from a time that was more innocent for most of us, but the theme would always be the same – two great friends, doing fun adventures together.

I will forever miss my friend. You’re off, like a herd of mad turtles. Until we meet again Raphie…rest well.

My Last Ride

My hands are clenched around chrome bars
the engine's rumble sounds so sweet.
I twist the throttle with my palm
and roar off down the street.

The slapping of my leathers
and raging winds on either side,
drum a beat of sweet contentment
as I ride this.....my last ride.

Alone on my tin pony,
to the heavens I've been called,
but fret not my dear loved ones,
I’m not lonely here at all.

The speedometer is just a blur
as tears blow from my eyes,
the bike and I roll forward
off into the calling skies.

I hope I touched your lives one day,
and left a treasured mark,
now I’ll ride on to FOREVER,
with your memory in my heart.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
