Timothy Stein Obituary

Timothy L. Stein

AGE: 54 • Manville

Timothy L. Stein, 54, died peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, August 5, 2016. Son of the late Leland and Margaret Stein, Tim was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, raised in Piscataway, and lived in Franklin Park before moving to Manville in 2002. Tim was a 1979 graduate of Piscataway High School and 1989 graduate of Rutgers University where he received his BA in Accounting attending night school while working full time.

Tim worked for Rutgers University for over 30 years, starting as a clerk and advancing to his current position as Manager of Payroll. He was instrumental in bringing automation to the Accounting Department, which became the foundation of his passion for computer technology - spending much of his spare time learning about, building and fixing computers for family and friends. Tim got enjoyment out of the simple things in life; he loved animals (especially his dog Abby), enjoyed a ride in his convertible on a nice day, and he looked forward to his yearly vacation with family at the Jersey Shore. Above all, Tim cherished his nieces and nephews and the time he was able to spend with them. Tim was proud to be a friend of Bill W for 32 years.

Tim is survived by his loving husband and life partner of 31 years, Joseph Gnatek, of Manville; siblings, Kimberly Stein of Piscataway, Patty-Jo Leslie and husband, Michael of Piscataway and Michael Stein of Piscataway. Tim is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tim's name to an animal charity of your choice.
