POINT PLEASANT — This past Saturday morning, March 27th, 2021, Geraldine Adron "Gerry" Duncan passed away peacefully from complications of dementia/Alzheimer's at her home in Point Pleasant, and was surrounded by close family.
Gerry was 84 years young and lived her remarkable life to the absolute fullest — even went skydiving at 77 years old! Throughout her life, she was a Good Shepherd youth leader, a member of quilt clubs, bowling league, Women's Society, a graduate of Point Pleasant High School in 1954, worked 45 years as everyone's favorite banking extraordinaire and enjoyed her retirement with friends and family! A dedicated servant of God and family. She was a lifelong member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of Flatrock. She lived for her family and sacrificed constantly; determined to attend all of her grandchildren's, nieces' and nephews' school functions or sporting events and looked forward to family vacations at her condo in North Myrtle Beach every year. She was a pillar in her community, providing unlimited servitude to everyone who knew her, and oftentimes, perfect strangers as well … everything from, the accomplished seamstress in her, making prom dresses, wedding gowns and quilts … to the nurturing mother in her, baking her famous apple pies and the very best savory hams. She never knew a stranger and had no idea how to say the word "NO" to someone in need. Her most famous bit of advice was simply P.M.A. (having a "positive mental attitude") and she lived by it! She was loved by many and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Gerry is survived by her husband Lake Richard "Dickie" Duncan (married 66 years), 3 daughters Dee (Danny) Taylor of Letart; Malea (Edward) Young of Pomeroy, Ohio; and Teresa (Joe) Krumpak of McDonald, Ohio. As well as, 9 grandchildren — "Mamaw" to: Robbie (Melissa) Taylor, Richie (Melissa) Taylor, DJ Taylor, Amy (David) Medley, Stephanie (Kristian) Pelton, Charlie (Caitie) Young, Derek (Dyana) Young, Michelle (Patrick) Bloedel, & Matthew (Alexa) Krumpak and 18 beautiful GREAT-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 beloved siblings, Darrell (Patsy) Holland, Ruth (and her late husband Gene) Herdman, and Alice (and her late husband Jim) Rife. She was near and dear to all of her sisters-in-law, as well.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eva Adron (Gill) Holland, and brother Charles Edwin Holland.
There will be a funeral service at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Flatrock. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Wednesday. CDC guidelines will be observed.
