Mattie Stethem Obituary
CANTON — Mattie Ruth Young Stethem, 110, of Canton, passed away June 6, 2014 at Noble Pond Aftercare facility in Canton.
She was born June 14, 1903 in Long Bottom, to the late Fred E. and Inzie Safried Young. She lived most of her 100 years there. On July 28, 1921 she was united in marriage to Emmett E. Stethem. To this union two sons were born, Roland Richard and Gerald George. She was also a member of the D of A in Chester.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald George and Faye Stethem; three grandchildren, Patty, Terry and Gerald; two step-grandchildren, Sandra and Ron.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Emmett; a son Roland; two brothers; two sisters and a step-grandson, Don.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with Rev. Norman Butler officiating. Burial will be in the Sandhill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday one hour prior to service.
