Brian Frye Obituary

Brian Lee Frye
Patterson - Brian Lee Frye, born July 27, 1983, and passed away the evening of Nov. 2, 2024, at his parents' home from natural causes. Brian was a mountain of a man, a real life "rock" for his family and friends. Brian's strongest love in this world was his children, filled with love and pride for them. He was determined to be a good dad, and he worked full-time jobs and sometimes, even two full-time jobs. Brian provided for them the best he knew. He leaves to this life, the following precious children; son, Brian Frye Jr., daughter, Baleigh Frye both of Apple Valley, CA and son, Collin Foster of Jacksonville. Parents, Steve and Debbie O'Dell of Patterson; siblings, Daniel Frye of Jacksonville, James (Lori) Howerton of MO, Amanda (Dorian) Frye of IN, Wesley (Emily) Howerton of Divernon and Billy (Lindey) Hays of Patterson.
Brian's second passion was his love of working as a carpenter. Brian has "swung a hammer" since the age of 10, building things from scrap lumber, old furniture and anything that would hold a nail. Brian was a Local 270 Union Carpenter and held those standards with pride and dedication. At the time of his death, Brian was employed by R.D. Lawrence Construction out of Springfield. He let it be known that his employer was a reputable company and was so proud to work for them. He stated, "It's nice to have a boss treat a hard worker good and to have that respect means a lot, I plan to work for them until I retire." That boss being, Mike Lovekamp. Brian embraced and deeply loved his cousins, aunts, uncles and a tremendous number of friends. His respect for family and relationships with friends was a high priority. If you had one of his goofy nicknames you knew his love. Another great passion during his years of marriage (to one wife only) Carrie "Sissy" Donovan, while raising their small children, he fell in love with cats and dogs. His little family owned, loved and cared for many different breeds throughout the years. He leaves behind, a small house dog, "Wren the therapy dog" who will reside with his mother, Debbie. Brian enjoyed fishing and mushrooming. He had strong relationships with his best friends with daily texts and calls before work to Mike Arnold just to ask, "You alive, loser?" Brian made sure to always look over his mother with daily calls. His obituary does not or could not reflect the magnitude of impact to so many. Blessed are his children, family, countless friends and co-workers.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Monies collected and balances brought to the Scott County Sheriff's Department will be managed and dispersed by the office of the appointed County Sheriff. In Brian's words "Mom, it's a virus in human civilization."
