Winchester - David V. Whitehurst, 81, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Winchester. Visitation Wednesday, April 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Coonrod Funeral Home.

I met David many years ago in several capacities while he was President of Corpus Christi Area Teachers Credit Union (Now CoastLife Credit Union. I remember David as a man of few words but he knew his business. He was a successful manager and a visionary for his credit union by helping them to locate their primary location into a thriving area of town well before it became that way. You could always catch him reading the WSJ or some other financial periodical and yes he loved his fishing. David also was instrumental in training several future CEO leaders in the South Texas area. Deepest Condolences to the Whitehurst family during your time of loss.

There are many memories of David as we worked together for 20 years. He loved his fishing in South Texas. He had some memorable stories to share about his excursions. He was very instrumental in our credit union and he pushed me to be a better leader. He was a great mentor, teacher, friend and family. He had the best Halloween Costumes - a tall 6' Bunny - he participated always and came up with great ideas. I uploaded my favorite picture of he and I - this was at his Retirement Party. Prayers Julia and all of his family.
