Myrtle Beach…John W. Ray, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
Mr. Ray was born August 10, 1948 in Aynor, SC, a son of the late Dave and Lorene Ray. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was an accountant with the accounting firm of Holbert and Holbert, PA in Myrtle Beach for the past 50 years. He enjoyed working out at Gold's Gym in Myrtle Beach, where he was a member for the past 30 years. He also loved traveling, going to the beach and spending time with his family. Mr. Ray was a member of the Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge # 353 and the Omar Shrine Club.
Mr. Ray graduated from Aynor High School in 1966 and had just recently celebrated his 50th class reunion. He was also a member of the inaugural graduating class of Horry-Georgetown Technical College, where he studied accounting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was predeceased by his younger brother, Terry.
Surviving are a son, John David Ray of Myrtle Beach, his sister, Faye R. Bradham of Conway, two brothers, Charley Ray (Dianne) of Conway and Jerry Ray (Alice) of Aynor, three nieces, Becky Hubbard, Barbie Bradham and Jenn Parker, a nephew, Joey Ray and his business partner of 50 years, Windle Skipper.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Pastor Jeff Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Aynor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
