John Louis Ritchie, Jr., 83 of Pawleys Island died Monday February 2, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice House. John was born April 23, 1931 in Newark, NJ, son of the late John L. Ritchie and Anne Ward Nicoll Ritchie. John attended Lowell Grammar School and Teaneck High School in NJ. It was in high school where he met his future wife, L. Donna Waits. John attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA for 2 Years and then in 1952 enlisted in the US Army where he became a paratrooper for the 82nd airborne unit in Fort Bragg, NC. John married L. Donna Waits on September 1, 1956. Both worked for the NJ Bell Telephone Company. They were blessed with 3 children, Robin Ritchie (1957), Anne Ritchie (1958) and Steven Ritchie born (1959). John and family moved to the Chicago area in 1966 where he worked for RR Donnelly. John and Donna moved to SC in 1986 where they owned and operated J&D Management until they retired in 1996.
John being an avid golfer all of his life, he enjoyed living in Pawleys Plantation and playing golf up until he was 81.
John is survived by daughters Robin Ritchie, Anne Ritchie and son in law Harris Willard. He is also survived by his granddaughters Jennifer Crosswait, Kasey Swanson and Lindsey Swanson and great grandson Brody Crosswait.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, L. Donna, of 44 years; son Steven and parents John & Anne.
A memorial service is planned for a date yet to be determined.
