Mary Whalen Obituary

MYRTLE BEACH | Mrs. Mary O. Whalen, age 81, wife of the late William J. Whalen, of Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.



Mrs. Whalen was born on May 14, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late John William and Mary M. Ogle. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach.



Survivors include two daughters, Diana Lee Hornyak, Sewickley, Pa., Patricia Ann Dekret, Pittsburgh, Pa.; four sisters, Audrey Neal, Port Charlotte, Fla., Ruth Humphrey, Escondido, Calif., Vera Brown, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Bonnie Happ, Yountville, Calif. She was preceded in death by a sister, Faith Hartman.



Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home Beach Chapel.

Mary and I were in a Bible class together. I remember her gentle nature and her kindness.

Although we did not know Mary personally, John talked with her several times in regard to Audrey's status. We are sorry for your family's loss. We know Audrey will miss her caring phone calls, flowers and treats.
