Paul Flint, Jr.
February 12, 1924 - September 2, 2014
Murrells Inlet
Paul attended New Haven State Teacher's College and the University of New Hampshire which was cut short by military service in 1942. As a ri?eman serving in Company "C" of the 104 th Infantry Regiment, US Army between Dec 1, 1942 and May 3, 1943, PFC Paul Flint served as a rifleman in the Rhineland Campaign under General George S. Patton, the European-African Campaign, Middle Eastern Theater Campaign, receiving a Campaign ribbon with one Service Star, and an American Theater Campaign Ribbon. Paul also received the World War II Victory Medal and, when wounded, received a Purple Heart. Following his service, he received his BA from Fordham University and his Master's Degree in American History from Georgetown University, and subsequently taught American History at the University of Maryland. During his career in the Federal Government Service, he traveled worldwide; from the African Congo to South Korea. Paul Flint's postings include: Verona, Italy; Frankfort, Germany; and the Washington, DC area. Upon his return, he worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency, Arlington Hall Station, and the Pentagon, Washington, DC. Paul was a graduate of the Foreign Service Institute, Army War College. Among his many awards; The Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, highest honor for a civil servant, awarded by James Schlesinger, Secretary Of Defense October 1975, the Bronze Palm Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, awarded by Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger, Order of National Security Merit, and The Order of Republic of Korea National Security Merit (SAMIL) medal.
Paul is survived by his wife, Alice Brady Flint; three daughters, Laura Mary Flint, Kathrine Ann (John) Coppinger, and Margretta Alice Flint (Mary-Ellen Yarossi); son Paul (Alyson) Flint III. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria Flint Coppinger, Andrew Coppinger, Paul L. Flint IV, and Natasha Alyson Flint.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father John Duraisamy. Inurnment will be announced for Arlington National Cemetery.
There will be a wake from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Burroughs Funeral Home.

I did not know Mr. Flint but I just read his obituary and was so proud to know that a man with his life's story still existed. He was truly a hero, loved his country and was a proud American. I send my condolences and prayers to his family.
