It seems that I knew Ash forever and I am very happy that my family got to know her as well. We all loved her and we all miss her every day.Michelle and I go way back and we have helped each other in the best of times and the worst...this is the worst of times. I am still in shock almost one year later.

I had the honor of being Ashleigh's Aunt. My name is Sherry Dial Sterrick. Ashleigh was the first of nieces and nephews to give me the honor of being an Aunt. On a Thanksgiving nite we got the call that Ashleigh was making her appearance in this world, we couldn't get to Mississippi quick enough. What a Blessing She has been. Ashleigh and I had such private laughs about Winnie the Pooh and too numerous to list. Ashleigh was the joy of my baby sisters life. Ashleigh loved family, outdoors, and her faith in our Lord. Ashleigh I miss you so much and think of you daily but I know that we shall see other soon. I just know that your two great grandmothers in Heaven are keeping you close to them until we are together again. Rest in Peace Little Girl. Love you so much Aunt Sherry

Ashleigh's Wedding- June 2013

Katie Hall

My prayers and positive thoughts go out to Ashleigh's family.

Ashleigh was always one of those friends that you could go a few months without talking to and pick up right where you left off. Her bright spirit, cheery smile and wit were always comforting to the soul.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Ashleigh at Ledford and even greater after graduation. I have fond memories of eating Mexican, shopping, Wedding prep, ice skating and long conversations about whatever was on our minds with her.

She will remain in my mind as a dear friend forever.

I miss you, Ashleigh.

Much love,
Katie

As one of Mihele's closest friends I had the opportunity to watch Ashleigh grow up often from a distance but Michele always sent pictures and updates. Ashleigh had such a sweet and caring disposition. I enjoyed the times I got to spend with her and her mother and always admired how close their relationship was as well as the relationship I witnessed that she had with her grandparents. Ashleigh loved and was loved! She was able to be athletic and tomboyish but still be so feminine and beautiful. She was compassionate and caring. She was a bright light who left us far too soon. The void she has left behind is great but the loving memories she leaves with her family are greater. I pray that the pain will subside and you will be able to reflect on the wonderful gift that she was and all of the precious moments you spent with her.

You will always be in the hearts and thoughts of our family. I remember her playing basketball with my boys. She was very kind and thoughtful.

I found a penny today, just laying on the ground, but it's not just a penny this little coin I've found. Found pennies come from heaven that's what my Grandpa told me. He said, "Angels toss them down.” Oh, how I loved that story.

He said, "When an Angel misses you they toss a penny down. Sometimes just to cheer you up, to make a smile out of your frown."

So don't pass by that penny, when you're feeling blue. It may be a penny from heaven that an Angel's tossed to you.

I am a minister from Ellerbe, NC where I reside with my wife, Alice. We did not know Ashleigh, yet when we read the tributes to her we were so touched by how very special and courageous she was and by how tragic your loss is. We wish we could have met her. We felt inexplicably compelled to pay her tribute and to remember Psa 30:5 "... weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." That is the morning of the resurrection which has in already occurred for Ashleigh, yet now our hearts are so heavy. Will we ever recover? So what is our hope? It can be put no better than David's words upon the death of the baby boy born to he and Bathsheba - 2Sa 12:23 "...wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." It is our hope and God's assurance that one day we will go to her! I thank God for such a lovely one as Ashleigh, who through her death, has deeply touched souls she may never have met on earth. For it is in her face that we see the faces of our daughters and granddaughters, realize what a precious gift from God they are and rest in the hope that one day we can go to them in a world where there are no more tears or sorrows. Ashleigh is basking in the glory of her Lord now. May He somehow help you find some peace in your terrible loss.

I am so confused...and Ashley is so missed. Just two weeks ago, she was talking to us about going to South Carolina to continue her schooling. She is way to young to leave this world. Her smile will be missed

I am so sadden by this news. I have nothin but happy memories of Ashleigh. Starting with her being a huge tom boy in elementary school, to growing into a beautiful young adult. As kids she was our peacemaker in our little group of friends, she was always breaking up the little fights, making everyone laugh when they were down, and always being the life of the party. She will always be misse and loved by everyone she came in contact with!

There are no words that can express how very sorry I am for your loss of your precious and lovely Ashleigh. She will forever be missed. Try to focus on the happy precious moments. Through the loss of my 22 yr old son I have learned that at our lowest in this life, that our strength truly does come from God and even when we don't understand "why" God is forever loving and carries us when we feel we can't go on. My prayer is that God's love and endless strength will see you through this time and through all time to come. Love and prayers.
