Charlotte Olive (Kohrt) Parr passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021 in Greenville, SC. She was born on September 22, 1925 to Olive Anderson Kohrt and Frederik W. Kohrt of Ottawa, IL.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa, with Rev. Phillip Potaczak, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service 10 -11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Charlotte graduated from Ottawa High School and attended St. Olaf's College one year. Following that, she worked at 1st National Bank in Ottawa until her marriage on February 12, 1949 to Lester Strawn Parr of Ottawa.
Charlotte and Lester moved to Chicago, IL in the Fall of 1949 where Lester attended Law School. He was later hired by U.S. Steel as their credit manager at which time they relocated to Boston, MA. During their time there, they purchased a residence in South Chatham, MA on Cape Cod where they enjoyed entertaining friends and family and spent summers into their retirement years.
From Boston, Charlotte and Lester transferred to the U.S. Steel New Jersey office before moving to Greenville, SC where Lester worked as Credit Manager for Edgecomb Steel until he retired. In Greenville, they were active members of First Presbyterian Church. Charlotte was a wonderful hostess and enjoyed entertaining their wide circle of friends and family.
In November 2011, Charlotte moved into Cascades Verdae, a retirement community in Greenville. She loved all animals and moved her cat and dog in with her.
In addition to her parents, sister and two step-brothers, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Strawn Parr. She is survived by three step-brothers and their families and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
