Clay Center resident Sharlet A. Ham, 84, passed away on August 8, 2025, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska. A Memorial Service for Sharlet will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, Nebraska. There will be a book signing prior to the Memorial Service, starting at 10:00 a.m., with the family present to greet friends and family who may not be able to attend the Memorial Service at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, Nebraska. Graveside Services will be held following the Memorial Service at the Clay Center Cemetery in Clay Center, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Sharlet was born January 6, 1941, in Red Cloud, Nebraska, daughter of Pete and Florence (McIntosh) Strobl. The family later moved to Fairfield, where she graduated in 1958. She married Richard (Bud) Ham, August 20, 1960. To this union, they had 2 girls, Deborah and Terri. Sharlet worked at Flossie's Cafe, the Polar Bear, Clay County Sun, and drove the handicap bus. She worked on the election board for many years. Sharlet volunteered her time working at Old Trusty Days for several years, which she enjoyed visiting with all the people. Sharlet loved to bake and cook, trying new recipes. Her and Bud's home was the family gathering place for events and celebrations, which the family looked forward to as they knew the food would be plentiful. She and Bud had a love for dancing, and they attended any dances in the area. She never missed sending cards to her family members on their birthdays, anniversaries, and any holiday. Sharlet was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Linda (Neubauer); brother, Rodney; sister-in-law, Wanda and her husband Marvin; and a grandchild. Survivors include her daughters, Debbie and her husband Gene of Harvard and their children, Gena and Shane, Terri and her husband Pat of Marsland and their children, Christopher and Randi, sister, Marcy Gieber and husband John of Ogden, KS; brother-in-law, Dennis Neubauer of Alma, sister-in-law, Peggy Strobl of Clay Center; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great- grandchildren. She was blessed to see her one-month-old great-grandson. She leaves many nieces and nephews and extended family whom she loved dearly.
