A.L. Herrington, Jr. passed away February 5, 2023 at age 97 in San Angelo, TX. He was born in Pert, TX on August 19, 1925 to A. L., Sr. and Bonnie Herrington and was the youngest of four children. He grew up in East Texas and graduated from Tyler High School.
After graduation, he attended college for 2 years and then entered the U. S. Navy and served in World War II. Upon completion of his service, he began a career at Humble Oil Company.
In 1959, he established Holiday Cleaners. Al was a pillar of the community and a role model to many. He was a member and supporter of First Methodist Church for 63 years and served in several capacities. He also served the San Angelo community on many boards and as President of the Texas Dry Cleaning and Laundry Association. Al was a respected businessman and was known for his generosity and kindness.
His hobbies included cars, music, and reading. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Al is survived by his wife Licha Herrington, children: Nancy Stahnke (Bill), Janet Kerr, Allen Herrington III (Robin), step-children: Gracie Munoz (Joe), Joe Diaz (Georgina), Bob Diaz, Susan Short (Coy) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His parents, brother Roy Herrington, sister Aliene Davis and sister Ann Avico preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Foundation Department or your favorite charity.
The family would like to thank all Sagecrest Personnel in the Tucker unit for their kindness and care during his stay.
