Ann McDonald Hirschfelt died peacefully on August 27, 2025.

Ann was born in Winters, Tx, on September 26, 1936 and moved to Ballinger as a young child.

She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1954 and Baylor University in 1959 with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Gene Hirschfelt in Ballinger on April 18, 1959. They moved to San Angelo where they lived and enjoyed 53 years of marriage before Gene’s passing in 2012.

Ann was a dedicated and lifelong educator who served the students of San Angelo ISD for 25 years. She began her career as an Elementary teacher at Crockett and later Reagan. Then she served as an Elementary counselor in many schools and completed her years as a counselor at Glenmore. She retired from SAISD in 1998. Ann then began a second career as a University Supervisor for Angelo State in Spring 1999 and continued for 20 years through December 2019. At ASU, she supervised, mentored, and coached student teachers/clinical teachers continuing to make a positive impact on classroom teachers and students alike. She was blessed with many amazing coworkers over the years.

Ann has been a member of First Baptist Church from 1959. She and Gene served in the youth group as a young couple. She served many years as a preschool Sunday School teacher and as the snack lady for VBS. She was a member of the Alpha Beta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for educators.

Ann is survived by her son, Craig Hirschfelt of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Claire & Jon Mark Hogg of San Angelo; granddaughter, Lauren Kornegay and husband, Nathan and great grandson Theo of Ft. Worth; and grandson, Luke Hogg of Washington, D.C. She is also survived by two sisters: Susie Robinson of DeSoto and Margie McDonald of Abilene. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Gene, and brother-in-law, Guy Robinson.

We will celebrate Ann’s life at a Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 3 at 2:00 pm at Southland Baptist Church. Elias Garcia will officiate. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Her service is under the direction of Harper Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Ann’s honor to the McDonald-Hirschfelt Endowed Scholarship at Baylor University, One Bear Place #97050, Waco, TX, 76798-7050 or the scholarship or charity of your choice.

The family is forever grateful for the loving care Ann received at Lyndale Independent Living and most recently at The Crest West at Baptist Retirement Community. The staff of both communities cared for her so well and so beautifully in her last two years.
