A. Houser Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

A. Louise Houser, 89, of Centre Hall, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mount
Nittany Medical Center. Born on February 14, 1936, in Linden Hall, she was the daughter of the late
Daniel F. and Agnes (Grove) Mothersbaugh. On July 11, 1953, in State College, she married the love of
her life, Paul M. Houser, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2021.
Louise was a 1953 graduate of State College. She worked as a secretary at Penn State University for
more than 20 years before continuing her career with SSI, where she retired after over 15 years of
dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Berean Baptist Church in Centre Hall.
Louise loved camping-especially her time spent at Black Panther Riding Club and the Centre County
Grange Fair. She enjoyed reading, crafting of all kinds, and playing Bingo. She and Paul were proud
"snowbirds," spending many wonderful winters together in Florida. The two were inseparable-wherever
you saw one, the other was sure to be nearby. Their 68-year marriage was a true testament to love, trust,
and companionship.
Family meant everything to Louise. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren-each one held a special place in her heart.
Louise is survived by her four children: Charles L. "Chuck" Houser and his wife, Diane, of Spring Mills;
Cathy J. Nicholas of Howard; Paula L. Carroll and her husband, Roger, of Fort Meade, FL; and Michele
L. Castellano and her husband, Tony, of Pittsboro, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Dan,
Jason (Julie), Erik (Kelly), Daniel (Addie), Nychol (Phil), Travis, Mikayla, Sierra, and Victoria (Chirayu);
and eleven great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Austin, Abby, Caleb, Sierra, Brooke, Harley (Nick), Kason,
Ledger, Hunter (Paige), and Kale.
Also surviving are her brothers, James Mothersbaugh (Betsy) of Muncy and D. Lewis Mothersbaugh
(Marilyn) of Linden Hall; and her sister, Shirley Spicer of Evans, GA.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Louise was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicolas Castellano and her sister, Barbara Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Centre Hall Fire
Hall, 134 Witmer Avenue, Centre Hall, with Pastor Dwight Freed officiating. Louise and Paul will be laid
to rest privately at Centre County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in Louise's memory to the Berean Baptist Church, PO Box 470 Centre Hall, PA 16828 or to attn: Frank, Berean Baptist Church, PO Box 111 Boalsburg, PA 16827.
