I still remember much of what I learned from Mr. Ooghe's TV lessons broadcast to my Bon Air Elementary School classes before our family relocated out of state in 1964. Because of his clear, reasoned explanations and ability to make learning about science fun and exciting, I (never a whiz at math or science) was able to comprehend scientific principles and processes that otherwise might have appeared boring or intimidating to me. My deep condolences to his family. I hope they can find comfort knowing that he touched and encouraged so many young minds.

Donna,
My thoughts and prayers are with you now as you go thru this dark time, I only hope you can try to hold on to all the good times you and Ed had.As Carol's husband, I know how much all of his children meant to him and how they cared for him.Ed was 30 yrs younger when I first met you and he welcomed me into the family much more graciously than I have been able to do as the father of three of his granddaughters.Ed was good to me and trusted me when he didn't have to and I will never forget him or some of his kind words.
I'm sorry I could not be there for the service, however you and the rest of the family are in my heart.
Love
Rick Smallwood

I am so sorry to read about Mr. Ooghe passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Mr Ooghe was the principal at Summer Hill School when I was a child going there from 65-70. Mrs Ooghe also taught my brother at the same school. I've always remembered both of you as kind and good people. God bless tou and thanks for the memories.

When I was an elementary school student in Hanover County, our teacher would tune to a new public TV station in Richmond for Mr. Ooghe's science lessons each week. In those early years of educational television, he certainly was a innovative educator, and no doubt touched the lives of many young people during his career as both teacher and administrator. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this time.

With sadness I have read of Robert Ooghe's passing.
We extend to his family and to his brother, Bobby, our sympathies.
Both Robert and Bobby are my "second cousins". Their mother, Fanny Barksdale, was my father's, William E. Stith, first cousin.
Many years have passed without being in touch but I will always remember the Barksdale family of aunts and cousins, Little Alice, Winnie, Gae, Anne, John, and Fanny as well as Robert's father, Arthur.
Our family enjoyed much pride from the great successes of both Robert and Bobbie. The Ooghe family and all those who knew and respected Robert have experienced a great loss.
Fondly, Ethel Stith Schneider
