A.Vernon Pearson, 93 of Greeley, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at The Bridge Assisted Living. He was born July 20, 1916 in Eaton to Arthur and Edna (Victoria) Pearson. Vernon married Hazel Anderson on September 22, 1946 in Greeley and she died on September 2, 1989. He then married Viola Engstrom on August 28, 1992 in Estes Park. Mr. Pearson lived in the Ault/Eaton area his entire life and graduated from Eaton High School. He farmed in Ault for 50 years and also fed cattle in the winter, retiring in 1986. Vern was a member of the Eaton Evangelical Free Church, Swedish Heritage Society of Northern Colorado, Knife and Fork Club, Eaton Pioneer Society and served as treasurer for the Hayden Ditch Company for several years. He was also identified as a Top Ten Beet Grower in the Eaton area. He enjoyed going to coffee every day with his friends, cattle buying trips with his friends and later in life he enjoyed playing bingo and putting puzzles together at The Bridge. Survivors include his wife Viola Pearson, daughter, Pamela (Charles) Cooper and two grandsons, Spenser and Mitchell Cooper all of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, sister, Frances Aileen Carlson and brother, Charles Pearson. Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Eaton Evangelical Free Church. Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Memorial gifts may be made to the Eaton Evangelical Free Church or Outsiders Youth Ministry in care of Allnutt, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
