Mr. Bates is survived by his children, Zaviea B. Sanders of Whitmire, SC, Taparrish J. Sims of Newberry, SC, Alton Bates and Cameron Bates both of Atlanta, GA; sisters Tanaka Holmes and Tanya McClurkin both of Newberry, SC; brother Daniel Wright (Cassandra); three grandchildren, three aunts, two uncles, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
