Aaron Renee Colbert, born Jan Renee, 70, of Pittsburgh passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025. Born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on February 3, 1955 to Murray Dale Colbert and Miriam Ann Bockelman Colbert, Renee began her education on a flute scholarship at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she was the featured majorette. She later graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1977 with a Bachelor's in Music Education. After being called to the law, she graduated from the University of Oklahoma, "Boomer Sooners!", with a Juris Doctor in 1984.
Renee practiced law in Oklahoma and later in Western Pennsylvania where she led Colbert Law. Renee was a fierce advocate, especially for children and youth, channeling their voices through her own. She shared her 40 years of experience with her fellow lawyers and paralegal students as a professor at Western School of Business and later Duquesne University. Her dedication to her work was matched by her love for her family and her network of friends both near and far.
Renee's passions included loving her dog, watching the OU Sooners and the Pittsburgh Steelers winning at football, planting and nourishing her beloved garden, savoring Pittsburgh's culinary delights, and watching the news to stay on top of current events. Renee will be remembered for how fiercely she loved and defended those who needed it.
Renee is remembered by her son, Joe Colbert, his wife, Kim, and their children, Emily and Jordan; her daughter, Cathleen Colbert Fischer, and her husband, Robert Fischer; her younger brother, Neil Colbert, and his wife, Jan Colbert; and her loving Aunt and Uncle, Brenda and Tom McDaniel. She is survived by a loving extended family across Oklahoma.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Shattuck Windmill Museum in Shattuck, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at Shattuck Cemetery.
