Rev. Aaron "Lamar" Creel, 84, of Tallahassee, FL, entered his heavenly home on September 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born July 24, 1941, to Aaron and Ila Mae Creel, Lamar's life was one of deep faith, devotion, and steadfast love for his family and his Lord. On December 4, 1959, Lamar married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn "Catty" Baggett, daughter of J.P. and Lela Mae Baggett. Together they built a marriage of 65 years marked by joy, laughter, and unwavering commitment-a true example of love lived out in daily life. Lamar was the cherished big brother to Lawrence (Paula), Randal (Susan), and Gayle (Larry), and the proud father of Keith (Angela) and Jana (Ray). Nothing brought him greater joy than being "Poppa" to Michael (Kiera), Rachel, Zac (Emily), Eli (Abby), Gracie, and Charley, and "Great Poppa" to Isabella, Maximus, Rhea, Redd, and Roxy. His influence reached far beyond his immediate family, as he was also deeply loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and many honorary grandchildren who knew him as a steady source of encouragement and wisdom. Answering God's call early in life, Lamar faithfully served the Lord for more than 50 years as a pastor, shepherding congregations including El Bethel Assembly of God, Oak City Assembly of God, Gastonia First Assembly, and Generations Church. His ministry was marked by compassion, humility, and a heart that longed to see lives changed by the power of Christ. To the many he led, he was not only a pastor, but a counselor, a friend, and a living example of God's grace. Those who knew Lamar will remember his gentle humor, his warm smile, and his steadfast prayers. He leaves behind a legacy of faith and family that will continue to inspire generations to come. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived in service to God and others. "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.'" – Matthew 25:23
