Aaron Benjamin Hughes (47) of Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family Friday, May 23, 2025, at Baylor University Medical Center Dallas. Aaron was the oldest of two sons born to his mother, Kathryn (Brown) Hughes and father, Thomas Hughes. Aaron was born on January 8, 1978, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Aaron graduated from Irving High School, class of 1997 where he was a member of the marching band playing the clarinet and base clarinet. Aaron was a Dallas Cowboys fan, albeit often a fair-weather fan. Aaron was a Boy Scout and spent many childhood days playing with his younger brother, Jonathan and his "sister-cousins" Amy and Laura in Cleburne, Texas. Aaron was always invested in his family and present at special life events and holidays. He loved his family very much. Aaron also took great pride in being an uncle to his nephew, Cole (9) and niece, AnnAlisa (3). Aaron especially enjoyed the tradition of carving pumpkins with them each fall and had a knack for picking the very best pumpkins to bring to the occasion. Aaron was loyal to his position of produce manager at Kroger for several years. When he wasn't at work, you would often find him relaxing at home by participating in online gaming on his computer. He is survived by his Mother Kathryn (Brown) Hughes, Father Thomas (Teresa) Hughes, Brother Jonathan (Julianne) Hughes, "Sister-Cousins" Amy (David) Slimp and Laura (John) Holloway, Nephew Cole Benjamin, Niece AnnAlisa May, Stepbrothers Jake and Jody Adams, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends and family will gather to honor the life of Aaron on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 in the morning at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, Texas located at 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX, 75062. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Crucial Catch Foundation in Aaron's memory. The family also asks that you encourage your loved ones to participate in regular health screenings and exams. The family wishes to thank you for your thoughts, prayers and condolences during this time of profound loss.
