Miami,FL- Abbie D. Mclaughlin, 42, passed away in her sleep from Lupus complications at her home on Monday, October 28, 2024. Abbie is survived by her parents, Mike and Cindy (Mudgett) Mclaughlin of
Clinton, MA; brother Gregg McLaughlin of Marblehead, MA; her beloved and cherished nephew Colum McLaughlin of Marblehead, MA; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and her canine companion, Baby Dawg. She also leaves her close friend and business partner, Paul Petracca, and many dear friends everywhere. She is pre-deceased by her grandparents, Muriel & John McLaughlin, and Arthur & Elaine Mudgett, and her dog, Puppie.
Born in Lancaster, Abbie graduated from Nashoba Regional High School in 2000, playing soccer from kindergarten through high school. Abbie attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She spent 3 years traveling throughout Europe, New York, and Florida as a model, returning home to receive her bachelor's degree from Worcester State University in Finance and International Business. She continued professional studies at both Columbia University and The Wharton School of Business.
Abbie was employed for many years by the investment firm, Pemco Management, where she rose to Partner in 2021.
Abbie had an enormous zest for life. Her loves included, work, fashion, travel and her beloved nephew Colum. She travelled to Paris, London, and New York frequently and throughout America annually. She met and made countless wonderful friends everywhere, deeply touching so many with her warm heart, open love for people and unwavering friendship. As a fashion icon to many, her flowing gowns and unique looks put her confidence and passion on full display. In her favorite city of Paris, she was always enthusiastic, energized and felt she was truly living her best life. A place where her signature RED lipstick was perfect at any time of day or night. Her friends know she will always be a true Taylor Swift fan.
Her nephew Colum was the light of her life. They loved planning and taking trips together several times a year. Abbie loved teaching Colum about investing. Colum was helping Abbie decorate her Condo in Miami with so many great ideas being brainstormed between the two. They were competitive in games with each other, loved making Christmas cookies together at Meme and Papas or carving pumpkins. They always picked out the craziest Christmas pajamas for the family. Every hug and conversation ended with "I love you to the Moon and Back."
Family and creating family traditions was so important to Abbie. She was her mom's best friend and confidante; they loved sharing all her fashion trips and clothes. Abbie and her Dad, had a unique and extremely close bond, she was his "Boo-ski." They loved to watch Top Gun movies together. Abbie had a deep appreciation for Fire Department traditions like Bagpipes and Drums. She always accompanied her Dad to their annual Boston fundraiser and 911 Remembrances at the Massachusetts State House. Gregg and Abbie were not only brother and sister, but best friends, and had a strong love and support for each other.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Abbie, Saturday November 16, 2024 at 10am at Cyprian Keys Golf Course, 284 East Temple Street, Boylston, MA. Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, is entrusted with arrangements.
