Abel Aaron Red Bird made his journey to the Spirit World on April 3, 2023 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD. Abel was born on May 12, 1947 in Thunder Butte, SD to Simon Red Bird and Kate (Elk Nation) Red Bird.
Abel is survived by his wife, Betty Red Bird; sons, Brian Herrald and Gerald Bad Cob, Sr.; special grandson, Gerald Bad Cob, Jr.; niece, Karen Red Bird of Little Eagle, SD; and numerous nephews, nieces, and grandchildren.
Abel was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Kate Red Bird; five brothers, Jerry Red Bird, Vern Howard, Elmer Red Bird, Maynard Red Bird, and Narleen Red Bird.
Pallbearers will be Quentin Brown Otter, Gerald Bad Cob, Sr., Patrick Eagle Staff, Sylvester Thomas, Willard DeCory, Roy Blue Legs, Brian Herrald, and Woody Bad Cob.

Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 14, 2023 at the T&T Center in Wanblee, SD
Funeral Services: 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the T&T Center in Wanblee, SD
Officiating: Lay Minister Johnny Wilson, Lay Minister Rita Brown, and Pastor Chris Grillo.
Traditional Lakota Services: Richard Moves Camp and Russell Eagle Bear
