Abenicio B. Montoya, a beloved resident of Rio Communities, New Mexico, passed away on September 30, 2025, at the age of 69.
Abenicio was a great man known for his skills and his big heart. He was the Best Dad, a great mechanic, and most importantly a loving husband. He loved getting his hands dirty; his main hobbies were working on engines and other machinery. When it came to music, he enjoyed everything from Patsy Cline, Classic Westerns to Spanish music and Classic Rock.
Abenicio was preceded in death by his father, Jose M. Montoya; his mother, Ernestina Baca, and his brothers, Gilbert Montoya and Joseph Montoya.
He is survived by his four daughters: Lisa Montoya, Anna Montoya-Najera and her husband, Pablo Najera, Yolanda Montoya and her partner, Kris Garcia, and Bernice Carrillo; partner of 18 years, Lisa Miller; brothers, Alex Montoya, and Antonio Montoya and family; sisters, Teresa Cordova and family, Diana Lares and family, Sandra Gonzalez and family, Jessica Trevizo and family. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, Enrique Montoya-Carrillo, Angelica Carrillo, Carlos Carrillo, Dominic Saitta, Issac Clemente, Carmello Montoya, Victor Montoya, Kindra Garcia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Following his wishes, Abenicio's wishes were to be cremated, and his ashes to remain with the family.
