Ramon Baca Obituary

Ramon Baca, 87, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Adelino, New Mexico, to Onofre and Maria (Marquez) Baca, where his roots and values were shaped by a close-knit community and a love of the outdoors.
A proud veteran, Ramon honorably served in the United States Air Force and later retired from the Army National Guard after many years of dedicated service to his country. Following his military career, he continued a lifetime of service by working for the State of New Mexico, where he devoted more than 30 years to the Foster Grandparent Program, ultimately retiring as a program manager. His commitment to helping others-especially disabled children and elders-was evident in all that he did.
Ramon shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Fela, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers Antonio Baca and Frank Baca; and sisters Luga Calles and Emma Sedillo.
He is survived by his children Fidel (Silvia) Baca, Berlinda Baca, and Steven (Brandy) Baca; grandchildren Monique (Matt) Wert, Joseph Baca, Cheyenne Herrera, Cecila Andrews, Gracie Andrew, and Joanna Andrews; and great-grandchildren Amaya Sanchez, Analisa Sanchez, Mattie Wert, and Ava Wert. He is also survived by his siblings Elena Aragon, Odelio Baca, Ida Ortiz, Cordelia Grady, Jennifer Baca and Betty Sanchez, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Ramon loved fishing with his family and compadres, cheering for his favorite football teams and NASCAR. He was known for his incredible sense of humor, always ready with a quick wit or playful remark that brought smiles and laughter to everyone around him. His joy for these simple pleasures mirrored the way he lived his life-steadfast, genuine, and full of heart.
Services celebrating Ramon's life will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church, in Tome, NM. A visitation will be held at 10:30 am, followed by a rosary at 11:00 am. Mass will then be recited at 11:00 am. A Reception will immediately follow the funeral service at the Tome Dominguez Museum at 2933 Highway 47, Tome, NM 87060. Ramon will then be placed to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to honor his memory by spending time with loved ones and sharing a story or a laugh in his honor.
Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com
