Mr. Acie Carlton Stroughter III, affectionately known by friends as "Skeeter", passed away at the age of 75 on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was the beloved son of Acie and Leola Stroughter of Jacksonville, Florida.

Acie was a proud graduate of Eugene J. Butler High School and went on to attend Bethune-Cookman College and Edward Waters College. Acie was also a devoted member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

On August 30, 1969, Acie married the love of his life, Sandra L. Harden. Together, they built a strong foundation and were blessed with three children: Acie R., Keith, and Eric. He instilled in them the values of love, respect, stability, and accountability-principles that continue to live on through his family.

Acie dedicated over 30 years of service as an engineer with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. His commitment left a lasting impact not only on his colleagues but also on the community he faithfully served. In addition, he spent many years volunteering as a Little League coach for his children, becoming a mentor and father figure to countless young people.

Acie was known for working his magic on the grill. His cooking wasn't just food; it was an experience that people looked forward to and talked about long after. If you ever had a conversation with him, you know he had a way of setting you straight with wisdom while making you laugh at the same time.

Acie was preceded in death by his parents, Leola and Acie Stroughter. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife: Sandra; sons: Acie (Veatrize), Keith (Janet), and Eric; sister: Jeanette Hall; brothers: Bertram, Reginald, and Ronald (Calromea); grandchildren: Altinna Smith, Keshana Stroughter, Devri'onte Thompson, Briyana Stroughter, Eric Stroughter Jr., Elaina Stroughter, Janaia Stroughter, and Kyla Stroughter; great-grandchildren; Warren A. Smith III and Treazure Thomas; along with a host of loving relatives and friends.

Our sincere condolences to the Stroughter family on the passing of Acie.
Acie was a great pitcher for the Eugene J. Butler High School Falcon's baseball team, probably the best left handed pitcher to ever don the red, white and black jersey.
May God continue to bless and comfort the family during your hour of bereavement, is our fervent prayer.
