Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vander Plaat Funeral Home - Wyckoff on Jul. 8, 2025.
Ada Iacono, 90 years old, of Mahwah, NJ and formerly of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025. Born in Santa Croce Camerina, she immigrated to Brooklyn, NY in 1954 before moving to Hackensack, Paterson, Toms River and ultimately to Mahwah 18 years ago.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining (the ultimate hostess), classical music and opera, gardening, nature and shopping. She took meticulous care of her home and never left the house without looking her best. Her favorite passion was spending time with family and doting on her only grandson whom she so lovingly referred to as her "Sunshine". She enjoyed traveling the world with her family, trying different foods and taking in all of the quiet moments in between.
Her infectious laugh and the way she lit up every room captured the true spirit of her kind nature. Her nickname by her father as a child was "Bocca aperta (open mouth)" because she was always singing and laughing. She had the remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable and loved.
She lived life to the fullest with boundless energy and enthusiasm. She was the epitome of grace, joy, kindness, generosity and compassion with deep roots in her faith and love of God.
She is survived by her children Ann Marie Apruzzese, Al Iacono, Laura Iacono, grandson Brandon Limandri, her sister, Elvira Pluchino, nieces Jennifer and Giovanna DiMartino, Lina Dal Pozzo, nephews Claudio and John Pluchino, Vince Cardaci and great nephew Damian DiMartino.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Iacono, parents Giovanna & Salvatore DiMartino, siblings Pasquale, Joseph, John and Frank DiMartino and Maria Cardaci.
