Ada Marie Sampson Proctor Brown, born November 11th, 1936, in Austin, Texas, was the second child of the late Frederick Z. Proctor Brown and Essie Mae Proctor.
At an early age, Ada Brown dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at Grant A.M.E. Church in Austin, Texas (now Grant Worship Center). There, she remained a faithful servant of God until her death on May 16, 2024.
Ada grew up in Austin, attended Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Jr. High School, and graduated from the Old L.C. Anderson High School (Class of 1956). She attended Prairie View A&M University for her undergraduate and Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychology. She was a faithful member of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority.
She loved her family and was known as a domestic and international travel connoisseur. She lived in London, England, toured Africa, and lived in New York, Nebraska, and Maryland. She loved people and served her community, winning many hearts to Christ. She never met a stranger.
She was a retired employee of the State of Texas -Child Protective Services and the Austin Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Z. Proctor and Essie Mae Proctor, her brother, Johnny Sampson, her grandmother, Pinkie Tennon, and her son, Arthur Brown Jr.
She's survived by her daughter Alesia Brown (Austin, TX), her son Anthony Brown (Sacramento, CA), her adopted daughter Mesa Jackson (Austin, Texas), her grandchildren Astrid Brown (Sacramento, CA) and Christina Burden (Chicago, IL), her two nieces Gayle Caldwell (Tulsa, OK), Jo Anne Sampson (Oakland, CA) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and her childhood friend of 82 years Norma Jones and last but not least Joy, Urkel, Buddy, and Faith her dogs.
Her favorite sayings were "Love, Peace, and Joy" and "Only What You Do For Christ Will Last".

I appreciated her kindness and will miss seeing her at Capital Metro and HEB Springdale! We would talk for hours. I felt like she was my mom or grandmother at one point and she always kept smiling.
