Adam P. Moeckel, Jr., a man of great warmth and selflessness, passed away on May 31, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on August 13, 1944, in Alleyton, Texas. Adam lived a life characterized by service, family, and friendship. He departed this world in the comfort of his home in Columbus, Texas, surrounded by his loving children.
Adam was a proud graduate of Columbus High School, after which he honorably served his country in the US Army, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he embarked on a career as a skilled welder, a trade he dedicated himself to until his retirement in 2014. His work was not just a job but a craft he performed with diligence and pride.
Known for his loving nature, Adam was a pillar of strength and support to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam P. Moeckel Sr. and Annie Moeckel, along with his sisters Earline Kulhanek, Gladys Schriefer, and Lillie Brune. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by those he leaves behind: his son Jeremy Moeckel and wife Samantha; his daughter Jessica Ross and husband David; his daughter Johanna Moeckel and fifteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Clarence Moeckel and wife Joan; his sister Helen Berger and husband Kirby; his brother Richard Moeckel and wife Susie; mother of his children Barbara Urban Hinton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Adam's life was full of joyous moments shared with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was a man who found happiness in the simple pleasures, such as fishing on the Colorado River, the sizzle of a barbecue surrounded by loved ones, and the laughter-filled storytelling sessions with friends over a cold Burnin Daylight. His presence was a comfort to all, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Those who knew Adam would describe him as the epitome of friendliness. His easy smile and open heart made him a beloved figure in his community. He was always ready to lend a hand or an ear, embodying the true spirit of selflessness. His ability to connect with people was remarkable, and his friendships were as enduring as they were numerous.
Adam's legacy is not only in the work he did or the time he served but in the love he gave and the lives he touched. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him, and his stories, kindness, and laughter will resonate for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to Adam P. Moeckel, Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a presence that will forever be missed. His spirit will continue to guide us, and his memory will forever be a beacon of the love and generosity he embodied. Rest in peace, Adam Bomb until we meet again.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Roch Catholic Church, 1600 Frelsburg Rd., Alleytown, Texas 78935. Family will receive friends at this time. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Hound Song Brewing Company, 535 Walnut St., Columbus, Texas 78934 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
