Donald Moeckel Obituary
Donald F. Moeckel, known affectionately as Don, passed away on December 7, 2024. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on October 19, 1939, to Harry and Charlotte Moeckel, Donald was an embodiment of resilience from the very beginning. A charismatic individual, his smile could light up any room he entered. His witty charm and loyal nature made him a beloved figure in his community and a pillar of strength and support for his family.
Donald dedicated his professional life to the field of accounting. His wisdom and integrity propelled him to the position of Vice President and CFO at the Workers Credit Union, while maintaining a private practice. His penchant for numbers was matched only by his love for travel and his fondness for Cape Cod. He was an active member of The Fay Club and the Chamber of Commerce, contributing his unique blend of charisma and wit to every meeting and gathering. He was a man of character, a prankster who found joy in making others laugh. As the saying goes, "A day without laughter is a day wasted," and Donald made sure to live by this.
In spite of his professional achievements, what mattered most to Donald was providing for his family. He was a devoted father to his son, Jeffrey Moeckel and Renee and a loving grandfather to Emma and Matthew Moeckel. Donald's loyal partnership with Patricia Richard was a testament to his capacity for love and companionship. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Charlotte Moeckel, and his beloved wife of 27 years, Susan Moeckel.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10-11 am at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
