Adam Shawn Wells was born September 25, 1978 in Lake Ozark, Missouri to his parents, George Wells and Donna Heard Wells. He passed away from this life into his eternal home on Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. At the time of his passing, he was forty-five years, four months and seventeen days of age.
Adam spent his early years in Dallas County in the Skyline Community and graduated from Skyline High School. Following graduation he remained in the area and served as a volunteer fire fighter and first responder with his dad in Louisburg, Missouri. He then went into law enforcement where he served as a police officer in Pleasant Hope, Missouri. He was a delivery driver most of his life for a few different companies. He enjoyed being out on the road interacting with people throughout the day. Those that knew him said he never met a stranger and could and would talk to anyone he came into contact with.
On March 3, 2010, Adam married the love of his life and best friend, Lesley, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together they have shared wonderful memories and laughter, as well as endured the ups and downs of life, for almost fourteen years.
Adam accepted the Lord at an early age. He loved preaching the Word, listening to and singing gospel music, reading his Bible, worshiping and praising the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his uncle, Jack Wells.
Adam is survived by his loving wife, Lesley; two daughters, MaKenzie Sawyer of Buffalo, Missouri and Emily Wildhaber of St. Louis, Missouri; his father, George Wells of Lebanon, Missouri; his brother, David Snow of Lebanon, Missouri; his sister, Lori Gorham and her husband Ron of Louisburg, Missouri; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that Adam loved like family; and his fur babies, Sissy, Feebie, Charlie, Boogie and Toby.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved firearms and going out to the shooting range for some target practice. He also had been a Dallas Cowboy football fan since he was a youngster. He had a big heart for animals, nature and loved having get-togethers and game nights with family and friends.
Adam's loss has left a huge void in the family, but they know they will meet again in God's heavenly home that has been prepared for them. Adam was a strong, loving and caring man and he will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
A memorial to Rescue One or Springfield Animal Shelter has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
