Phyllis Ann (Mabary) Bybee passed from this earth and into her Heavenly home on Sunday, October 15, 2023; she was 78 years old.
Phyllis was born to Elinor (Carter) and Ralph Mabary on October 01, 1945. She worked on her family's dairy farm as a child and graduated from Skyline High School in the summer of 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Bybee, on October 20, 1963, and they soon moved to Springfield for Ralph's job with MFA.
Phyllis was a homemaker for many years, working part-time for Zenith & Kmart, before serving as a full-time personal banker for Commerce Bank. Phyllis worked for Commerce Bank for over 20 years and was so very proud of the friendships and relationships she had with her customers. She absolutely loved that her desk was right inside the front door of her branch, and she greeted every customer who came through the doors with kindness and a smile.
Phyllis loved to play golf with Ralph, and they spent many evenings and weekends together, chasing a little white ball all over the golf course. They were the happiest when they were on the golf course, with a constant friendly rivalry to see who could get the next hole-in-one. They played golf together until Ralph's passing in the summer of 2010. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year, instead they are spending their 60th wedding anniversary together in their Heavenly home.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Young (husband Chad, daughters Chloe and Sophia), her son Ryan Bybee (wife Amanda, daughter Hailey), sister Rita Ries, brother Ron Mabary, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Phyllis is preceded in death by her loving husband Ralph Bybee, mother and father Ralph Dee and Elinor Mabary, brother Don Mabary, and sister Sandra Howard.
A visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home (Springfield, MO) from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, October 19. Funeral Services will be held at Gorman Scharpf at 10:00 am on Friday, October 20, with a burial to follow in the Little Niangua/McCain Cemetery in Preston, MO.
