Mrs. Addalee Sears, age 83, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Addalee was born to Lee Dickson (L.D.) Lane and Mary Frances Cogburn Lane on October 4, 1941, in Wink, Texas. On June 20, 1959, she married the love of her life, Jarvis Clifton “J.C.” (Jake) Sears, Jr. Together, they raised four children and shared 55 years of marriage until his passing in December 2014.
A devoted homemaker and faithful member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, Addalee found joy in the simple things - especially spending time with her family. Mother Teresa said, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” Addalee changed the world, especially the world of those close to her, by doing just that. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.C. Sears, Jr.; her mother, Mary Frances (Cogburn) Lane and her father, Lee Dickson (L.D.) Lane; as well as her closest cousin, Glenda Raye Hill.
Addalee is survived by her brother, Timothy Pruitt Lane; her children: Clif and his wife, Cindy; Juli Greene, and her husband, Jamie; Lee; Jeff and his wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Jessica Wiley, John Reedy, Kaylei Tindol, Kasey Prichard, Jacie Lewis, Heylee Herrington, Reese Sears, Keeley Sears, Kodie Keller, and Katie Sears; great grandchildren, Aubree Sears Young, Grayson Sears, Benny Reedy, Weston Herrington, Shepherd Herrington, and Lakelynn Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, also at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Weatherford.
