Adolphene Wilma Horne Knight, affectionately known as Dot…Dottie..Little Mommie or Dottie Mabel.. was born as the first black baby to be born in a Takoma Park Maryland hospital in 1931. She was the second of six siblings to her parents Adolphus and Marian K Horne of Washington DC. Everyone who knew Dot felt she was a kind, sweet and beautiful soul.

Adolphene studied and completed the LPN nursing course many years ago. She was a devout Sabbath Keeping Christian. She was a previous member of the Mars Hill SDA Church in Sanford FL. She loved to have worked in God’s field as a Head Deaconess for years. Then from approximately 2019 forward, Adolphene was a member of the online Sabbath Keeping family Let There be Light Ministry.

Adolphene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr Isaac Norman Knight (of St Ann’s Bay, Jamaica) in October of 1994 and her oldest daughter LaNita Carol Knight in 2002. Adolphene leaves to mourn her by sons: Isaac Norman Knight II of Altamonte Springs, FL and Weston Wayne Beauclerc Knight of Sanford, FL; and her remaining daughter Cariolinfa Westphalia Knight of Sanford, FL. She has a host of loving family – one remaining brother, Jerome Horne (Lydia) and family along with other loving and devoted nieces/nephews, in the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Adolphene has loving church family from both her previous church as well as with her loving Sabbath Keeping online church family with Let There Be Light Ministry. Many kind neighbors/hospice personnel/community paramedic personnel all remembering the kind/sweet “Ms Adolphene”.

Many thanks and appreciation and love to all family and friends for their prayers and support (emotion/financial or otherwise) and to all the surrounding neighbors who remember her as a kind and sweet lady who even on the hospice bed would still be loving and kind to all who came in to visit and she would when asked many times how she was would say.. “I’m ‘fine-fine-fine’ ”

She will be lovingly remembered always and dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting or knowing her.

We are comforted, praying to be among the first resurrection with by God’s Grace all our loved ones who have preceded us in the sleep of death, by God’s Word:

1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
